Description
Late Bottled Vintage, also known as LBV, is the most premium port style brought in England. Matured in wood for four to six years, it is ready to drink when bottled and does not need to be decanted. This Port can be served by the glass for several weeks after the cork is drawn.
Launched in 1970 by Taylors current chairman, Alistair Robertson, Taylor’s LBV – the original Late Bottled Vintage – remains the benchmark in the category; the first choice of the knowledgeable port drinker.
Tasting Notes:
Appearance: The wine is deep ruby black with a narrow brick rim and cerise highlights on the edge.
Nose: The aroma is inviting, with prominent notes of blackcurrant, cherry, liquorice, and spice.
Palate: The flavor is well-balanced and complex, featuring rich black fruit flavors supported by firm but well-integrated tannins. It has a dense and chewy palate with lively acidity.
Finish: The finish is long and elegant, with rich dark chocolate flavors adding a touch of lusciousness and opulence to the intense berry fruit.
Overall: Taylor's Port Late Bottled Vintage is perfect for sipping on its own or pairing with rich desserts like chocolate cake, blue cheese, or artisan chocolate bars. Its rich, fruity, and complex profile makes it a standout choice for Port lovers.
